The other side

I walk to work the same way every day.

Out the same station exit
up the same staircase
along the same footpath.

One day I noticed a light
reflecting from glass buildings
just across the road.
 
And I realised.

For years out of habit
I have walked in shadows
All the while
I could have been walking in sunlight
